Saturday afternoon, I was hired to shoot a babyshower in Long Beach, CA. As our session came to an end and I was going to my car, I saw a botanical garden behind the building the baby shower was in...so we decided to take it outside and snag a few snaps of the atmosphere.
Loved shooting this picture...
I was leaving a housewarming party in Inglewood, CA. As I climbed the hill to return to my car, I looked over my shoulder and saw the sun setting. The end to an already pleasant day.
Recently, ESPN the magazine, did a Body Issue centerpiece that involved several athletes that we admire in sports we love...
I DID NOT shoot this picture.
I DID however find the beauty in the simplistic nature and true vulnerability of her photography session.
I DID find the very soulful parallel of love and basketball and the love of self.
And I DID fall in love with Candace Parker the basketball player and Candace Parker the spirit.
Good day readers and clients.
During my recent wedding shoot, I managed to capture a quick candid of my second shooter Qiana Nicole of www.QianaNicolePhotography.com. She was a GREAT help in assisting me and providing valuable points and insight from her perspective on this very blessed day.
So please support your photographers with capturing all the moments of your life...be they big of SMALL.
I have a very affectionate and deep seeded passion for Black and White imagery. To me, it just something about those deep dark black, mild gray and brightening white colors that tell much more of a story and offer more texture than ANY other colors in the entire rainbow put together.
I feel as though this picture is titled correctly because when you hear the term "Black and Blue", normally you would think about bruises and implications of brutality. However, unlike the negative connotations of this term, we aspired to showcase the beauty in it.
PalmTree Williams reached out to me online and said that she wanted a shoot that was very unique to her Astrological Sign (LEO) and her character traits. Ultimately, she wanted to recreate a beautiful lioness in her natural state.
So with a few dabs of makeup and a little photography imagination, we pulled it off...
What do you think?

I was speaking to a fellow artist and friend of mine recently about the power of ones art/talent/gift. (I'm paraphrasing, but) She told me that you never know who or how you are going to affect or better yet effect someone. For instance, there could be a picture that you take or have taken that could save a marriage that was on the brink of a divorce, or a moment that you have taken where someone in that picture was 3 days away from transitioning on to the next life and the smile that was captured was the last one that that family will forever see of the person(s).
Photography when examined from this aspect is very powerful and humbling honor that my clients have and will bestow upon me and I never ever want to take this power for granted.
I loved the artistry so much in this picture that I turned it into a dozen for no apparent reason other than having too much good stuff of the same thing in a different pattern. To remind myself that in life that "perspective" is EVERYTHING...
Be well friends.
